Art has remained a passion of mine as long as I can remember. A camera, clay, or canvas has always been able to keep me content for hours. When it came time for college though, instead going to art school, I went to Georgia Tech. Giving up clay sculpture and painting, I studied subjects like Thermodynamics and Linear Discrete Mathematics. I was able to keep up with photography though and took that hobby along with some understanding of digital imagery and ended up getting a hard-earned degree in Industrial Engineering. Was there anything to take from all of that, only that I did it going through a 'few' challenges
Right before High School I started having seizures all the time. After medication didn't work to stop them, I underwent 3 brain surgery operations. The 1st surgery was unsuccessful, the 2nd removed a small section of my left brain, and the 3rd was to fix-up my skull. The emotional and physical stress from the seizures and the surgery were significant things to overcome, but I came out a better person when it was all over. Basically, I decided to challenge myself and explore into just how far I could go in life. Hence, putting art on hold and spending 5 years to become an engineer. The results, a great career and the ability to do all of the art I want nowadays.
Today, seeing the scars on my head, the diplomas on my wall, and the art in my loft, I remind myself that I can do ANYTHING if I work and set my mind to it, no matter how challenging it might be.
